Authorities have detained a 17-year-old male suspect for reportedly engaging in inappropriate behavior toward a 30-year-old woman with disabilities in Barangay Hipodromo, Cebu City. The suspect, identified by the alias "Junjun," was renting a room at the victim's family home at the time of the incident.
The arrest occurred on September 24, the suspect's birthday, which was overshadowed by the serious allegations against him. According to an investigation led by the Mabolo Police, the victim's father discovered the situation around 11:00 a.m. while searching for his daughter. He found the suspect in the vacant room, partially undressed, reportedly engaging in inappropriate conduct in the presence of his daughter.
Reports indicate that the suspect removed the victim's pajama bottoms before the incident took place. Although the victim is nonverbal, authorities confirmed that she was not physically assaulted.
The victim's father immediately apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Mabolo Police Station for processing. The family is determined to pursue formal charges against the teenager.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about protecting persons with disabilities from abuse and the swift action taken by family members and law enforcement in such situations.
