Ercan Osmani Leads Turkey to Convincing Victory Over Greece, Sets Up EuroBasket Final Against Germany
Crispin Abella
Turkey secured a dominant 94-68 victory against Greece on Friday to advance to the EuroBasket final, where they will face Germany. Ercan Osmani was the standout performer, igniting the game with an impeccable start by sinking all four of his three-point attempts in the opening quarter, scoring 14 points early on. From the game's first basket, Turkey maintained control and never trailed.
The 27-year-old power forward ended the contest with an impressive 28 points and six rebounds, converting 11 of his 15 field goal attempts. Osmani’s impact extended beyond scoring, as his defensive efforts helped to contain Greece’s star player Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was held to just 12 points.
Turkey’s historic best EuroBasket finish was a silver medal earned when hosting the championship in 2001. This victory marks a significant step toward matching or surpassing that achievement. In the final, Turkey will challenge Germany, who defeated Finland earlier on Friday. Meanwhile, Finland and Greece will compete for the bronze medal on Sunday.
