La Castellana Mayor Directs Ongoing Dredging of Ibid Creek to Mitigate Flood Risks

La Castellana Mayor Añejo Nicor has commanded the uninterrupted dredging of Ibid Creek located in Sitio Tamburong, Barangay Biak Na Bato. This proactive measure aims to reduce the risk of flooding and mudflow incidents among communities situated downstream of Kanlaon Volcano.

Mayor Nicor emphasized the importance of clearing waterways and removing sediment buildup from the creek, which has been accumulating due to volcanic materials discharged from Kanlaon Volcano along the residential zones of Barangay Biak Na Bato. She highlighted the urgency of completing this operation promptly in preparation for the anticipated heavy rainfall in the region.

"It is crucial that we maintain the flow of water in Ibid Creek to safeguard the residents below Kanlaon Volcano from possible hazards," Mayor Nicor stated, underlining the local government's commitment to disaster risk reduction through infrastructure maintenance and environmental management.
