Los Angeles Dodgers Clinch Back-to-Back World Series Titles in Dramatic Game 7 Victory

In a nail-biting conclusion to the 2025 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers emerged victorious against the Toronto Blue Jays in a thrilling 11-inning Game 7, winning 5–4 to claim their second consecutive championship. Faced with multiple deficits throughout the game, the Dodgers staged a remarkable comeback on Saturday, November 1 (Sunday, Philippine time) at the Rogers Centre.

Veteran infielder Miguel Rojas ignited the rally with a pivotal solo home run in the top of the ninth inning, leveling the score at 4–4 and momentarily silencing the home crowd. The decisive moment arrived in the 11th inning when Will Smith blasted a 366-foot solo homer off Toronto pitcher Shane Bieber, granting Los Angeles its first lead of the contest.

"I was fired up," Smith reflected after the game. "We knew we needed to get a run there. To be able to come through in that spot was huge."

The Dodgers' bullpen then delivered under immense pressure, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto closing out the final three outs to secure the championship. The Blue Jays staged a threatening rally in the bottom of the 11th, highlighted by Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s leadoff double and Isiah Kiner-Falefa's sacrifice bunt that brought Guerrero to third base.

Despite the tense situation, Yamamoto maintained composure. Following a walk to Addison Barger, which left runners at the corners with one out, the Dodgers’ ace induced Alejandro Kirk into a game-ending double play.

This victory marks the first time since the New York Yankees’ three consecutive titles from 1998 to 2000 that a team has successfully defended their World Series crown.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised his team's resilience in the postgame remarks. "This group never stops believing," Roberts said. "They've been through everything—injuries, adversity, tough losses—and still find a way to rise to the occasion. That's what champions do."
