Zamboanga City witnessed the turnover of a newly constructed two-storey school building featuring eight classrooms, valued at P21.28 million, to the national high school in Calabasa village, Curuan District. The handover ceremony took place on Monday, September 8, 2025, with Councilors Benjamin Guingona IV and Frederick Atilano representing Mayor Khymer Olaso, who was unavailable due to other official duties.

The project, funded by the city government in 2024 and executed by a private contractor under the oversight of the City Engineer’s Office, reflects the local administration’s ongoing commitment to advancing quality education by enhancing school infrastructure.

During the turnover, Councilors Guingona and Atilano emphasized the critical role that improved educational facilities play in supporting the city’s youth. Dr. Jessiebel Alavar, Public Schools District Supervisor for the Department of Education–Curuan District, formally received the building alongside members of the school community.

This development aligns with Zamboanga City’s strategic initiatives to provide better learning environments and ensure access to quality education for all students in the district.
