Quezon Governor Expresses Pride and Disappointment Over Ahtisa Manalo's Miss Universe Placement
Nemesio Gatdula
Quezon Governor Helen Tan has conveyed her strong pride in Ahtisa Manalo, the province's representative, for securing the third runner-up position in the Miss Universe competition. In a social media post, Tan affirmed that Manalo remains the official Miss Universe in the eyes of Quezon residents despite not winning the crown.
Expressing a mix of admiration and mild frustration, Tan humorously mentioned her urge to drink lambanog, a popular local alcoholic beverage, as a reaction to the outcome. She remarked that even a single shot would be enough to cope with her feelings.
In her message, she wrote, "Congratulations Ahtisa, we love you. You will always be our Miss Universe. But it seems like I want to have lambanog even just one shot." The governor’s candid remarks reflect the community’s deep support for their hometown candidate and the bittersweet sentiment surrounding her near victory.
