From Seminary to HR Leadership: Kieth Walter Ayuso’s Inspiring Career Journey

Nemesio Gatdula

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Kieth Walter Ayuso, 37, once dreamed of becoming a priest and dedicated 11 years to seminary studies before choosing a different path. Despite his initial ambitions, Ayuso made a conscientious decision to serve beyond the clergy, redirecting his passion towards human resources, where he has since built an award-winning career.

"I originally wanted to be a priest," Ayuso shared. "But I knew I had to be honest with myself. As the saying goes, 'Many are called, but few are chosen.' I realized I could still serve God outside the seminary."

Ayuso, who graduated cum laude with a degree in philosophy from the Oblates of St. Joseph College of Philosophy in the Philippines, acknowledged the difficulty of leaving the seminary but emphasized the importance of reflection in finding his true calling.

His career began in Makati as part of an HR team at a medical business process outsourcing company, and he has remained in human resources for over 15 years. In 2013, Ayuso relocated to Dubai, starting as an HR coordinator for a new hotel project. Since then, he has advanced through roles spanning the hospitality, defense, government, and aviation sectors.

Currently, he is the Head of HR–Middle East at an aviation company, where he manages strategic HR initiatives and talent development across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. His notable previous roles include corporate director of HR at Jannah Hotels & Resorts, corporate HR manager at IHG Hotels & Resorts, and various senior HR positions at Dubai-based Emaar Group.

Ayuso’s excellence in HR has garnered significant recognition: he was named among the Top 100 HR Leaders in MENA 2025 on November 20. His previous honors include Top HR Leaders in the Middle East 2024, Commended HR Leader of the Year 2022, and inclusion in the 300 Most Influential Persons in the Gulf in 2020.

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Ayuso is committed to his faith as an active member of the Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic Community, serving chapters throughout Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah.

His journey exemplifies how one can blend professional achievement with personal faith, illustrating that service takes many forms beyond initial aspirations.
